Riviera all set for a Sunday shoot out with Bubba in the lead..

PGA Tour Northern Trust leaderboard http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/northern-trust-open/leaderboard.html

The 18th at Riviera has been the difference maker for as long as they have played this LA golfing landmark.

The dogleg right is as are many of golf's great holes, difficult in it's simplicity. Drive too far left and get hung up in deep rough, too far right and get stymied by the eucalyptus trees and your approach if hit with too much fade can run down the hill next to the concessions stand. The green is contoured from the top to the bottom..

On Saturday Bubba Watson made a par from that stand for a -4 67 to grab the lead from even bigger names at -12 201 one shot ahead of Dustin Johnson (68), Jason Kokrak (70) and Chez Reavie (69) all at -11

Rory McIlroy (67), Adam Scott (67), Kevin Chappell (66), KJ Choi (67), Marc Leishman (68) are all just 2 shots back at -10 and Hideki Matsuyama (68)  leads the rest of the the 10 players within three shots of the lead.

So Sunday is wide open as McIlroy told the gathered scribes in his post round interview..“It’s one of these golf courses, if you just stay around, hang in there and not make too many mistakes, stay patient, your time will come and it will present itself with a few opportunities and thankfully on the back nine, I was able to take some of them.”

Canadian scores: Nick Taylor shot +1 72 T41 at -3. Adam Hadwin is T50 at -2
