Solheim Cup.. Day 1 underway.

Solheim Cup leaderboard http://www.lpga.com/tournaments/the-solheim-cup/leaderboard

They are playing foursomes (alternate shot) under mainly sunny skies in Germany this morning and as you can see from my scoring link of the 4 matches they are evenly split 2-2 in the early going.

The USA are all decked out in red, white and blue, like walking flags while Europe are more modestly attired in dark blue pants/shorts/skirts and light blue shirts with white caps.

Pressel and Creamer are 3up on the Scandinavian pairing of Norquist and Pettersen through 11. Creamer who has missed her last 2 cuts was a controversial choice by Julie Inkster, but she is such a great team player she hasn't hurt the US team at all so far. Pettersen just missed a 4 footer for par on 11.

Kerr and Lexi Thompson are dominating Spain's Azahara Munoz and France's Karine Icher 4up.

On the European side, England's Melissa Reid and Charley Hull are 1up through 10 over Wie and Lincicome while German star Sandra Gal and Scotland's Catriona Matthew are also 1up over Lewis and Lizette Salas who I think is the sparkplug of this team.

Foursomes this morning and fourballs this afternoon, same thing on Saturday while Sunday is singles.

Watching early this morning, the USA team seems looser and has all the momentum. The European squad seems a little tense.
