In front of his fiance, family, friends and an adoring English crowd, 6'5" Chris Wood went out in 29 and came home in 40, but his 69 was enough for the biggest win of his career.
He has secured a 5 year playing exemption, a spot in the Open Championship, 3 years exemption for the US Open, about $1m and possibly a place in Darren Clarke's Ryder Cup squad !
He won by a shot over Swede Rikard Karlberg who charged in with the round of the day -7 65.

Weekend round up..final scoreboards.. all Canadian results
Jordan Spieth grabbed most of the headlines with his first win in Texas, setting up a Jordan, Rory, Jason match up at Jack's Memorial this week. Here's a summary of the weekend, including final scoreboards and Canadian results with links to them all.

This event is really the Colonial in Fort Worth, made famous by Ben Hogan, this year with a brand new sponsor. The winner was Jordan Spieth 67 66 65 65 -17, so he adds a pretty ugly red tartan jacket to go with the green one he won at Augusta 2 years ago.
He birdied his final three holes, chipping in from behind the 17th green and closing with a 35 foot birdie bomb to finish three strokes ahead of Harris English.
It was his eighth career win and came in his third tournament since blowing the Masters. He will join Rory and Jason at Jack's Memorial this week before defending his U.S. Open title in three weeks.

Happy go lucky Rocco Mediate opened this 2nd major of the Champions tour with a record tying 62 and closed with a -5 66 at the Jack Nicklaus designed Harbor Shores course in Michigan for a three-stroke victory over two-time defending champion Colin Montgomerie.
He finished at -19 265 to break the tournament record of 268 set by Sam Snead in 1973 at PGA National. Of note, Bernhard Langer T3 at -13 as he was trying to become the first player to win all five PGA Tour Champions majors

Derek has been part of the Canadian golf scene for nearly 20 years, and has battled back from a terrible car crash several years ago that nearly took his life.

However by far the headline story in Ann Arbor at this Volvik Championship is the continued fantastic run that Thai star Ariya Jutanugarn is on. She became the first player to win three straight LPGA Tour events in three years, after a -5 67 for a five-stroke victory.
She is the first player since Inbee Park in 2013 to win three consecutive tournaments and the first ever to make their first three career victories consecutive.The 20 year old finished at 15-under 273

Masters champion Danny Willett led the pack of leaders through a frustrating Saturday afternoon on a very firm West Course at Wentworth in breezy conditions.
His +4 76, along with Scott Hend 73, Jaco Van Zyl 75, YE Yang 75 has thrown this very lucrative BMW PGA Championship wide open as play gets underway this morning.
Whoever wins gets nearly $1m in their jeans, a 5 year exemption on the European tour, and a 3 year exemption to the US Open, not to mention a ton of Ryder Cup points.
How about Lee Westwood, now 43 coming off a T2 at the Masters and a top 10 last week at the Irish Open. He is living on painkillers after tearing a ligament in his ankle while running on Tuesday, and wouldn't he just love to have his great pal and Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke pick him again for the defending champions.
He and his wife Laurae Coltart split last summer, he's dating a model Helen Storey, Laurae and the kids, Sam and Poppy are up in Aberdeen, while Lee has left Florida and moved back to Worksop to be near them.
The lawyers are sorting out the details of his $60m fortune.
There are 8 players within 3 shots of the lead currently held by the lanky Englishman Chris Wood who is at -10 and remember the back 9 at Wentworth has 3 par 5's including the 17th and 18th.

Willett saving BMW PGA Championship's blushes

The prize fund was just over 60,000 quid when Arnold Palmer won this championship when it was sponsored by Penfold back in 1975, last year it was 5,000,000 when Korean sensation Byeong Hun An won it in the 11th year of BMW's sponsorship.
It was then and has always been the flagship event for the European Tour , mostly played at the HQ for golf at Wentworth, and all that tour's biggest names and a smattering of American stars have traditionally supported it.
Seve, Tony Jacklin, Nick Faldo, Monty, Woosy, Langer, a who's who of the European game have joined the King on that coveted trophy
This year, Masters champion Danny Willett (9) is saving the blushes of new CEO Keith Pelley and his staff as he currently leads by 3 shots after rounds of 66 68 -10. None of Jason Day (1) Jordan Spieth (2), Bubba Watson (4) or Rickie Fowler (5) would have any allegiance to be here, but with no Rory (3) or Henrik (6) or Adam (7) or Justin (10), the field is lacking in star power.
Rory went all in last week, sponsoring and winning his national championship at the K Club and has supported and won this PGA championship in the past, as have the others. But he is back home in Florida as he recovers from his Irish hangover, and begins next week at Jack's place for his run at the US Open.
A combination of the top players divided loyalties, this crowded summer schedule with the inclusion of the Olympics, the Ryder Cup, and the strong influence from Jack Nicklaus and his $8.5m Memorial tournament next week has taken it's toll on this field.
Luke Donald and Lee Westwood were once world #1's but are past their prime and while there are 8 different flags up on the current leaderboard, guys like Scott Hend, YE Yang, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Felipe Aquilar and Jorge Campillo must have the suits at the Golf Channel wondering why they have spent a fortune sending their entire broadcast crew over there when nobody but guys like me are watching.
So it's up to Danny boy this week. He has become a rock star in England, taking 4 weeks off to deal with all the media, and if he can hold on and win, not only will he be delighted, but so will everyone else in the tour's head office.

Bernhard Langer takes control at the Regions Tradition

AP...Bernhard Langer surged to a four-stroke lead Saturday in the Regions Tradition.
A stroke behind leader Kenny Perry entering the round, Langer shot a 3-under 69 to move to -12 204 in the first PGA Tour Champions major of the year, while Perry and others stumbled at Greystone.
The 58-year-old Langer won the Chubb Classic in February for his 26th victory on the 50-and-over tour.
Perry held the lead after each of the first two rounds but had a double bogey on the opening hole on his way to a 74. He and Scott McCarron, who shot a 72, were tied for second place at -8 going into the final round.
John Daly was among five players at -7 after a 69. Playing in his second PGA Tour Champions event, the two-time major winner had a double bogey, two bogeys, an eagle and five birdies.
Canadians Stephen Ames 72 71 75 +2 and Rod Spittle 72 72 75 +3 are well back.

Rory McIlroy put himself in prime position to win his national Open for the first time as the third round of the Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation was completed earlier this morning.
He has 12 wins on the European Tour, including his four Major Championships but had missed the last three cuts at the Irish Open with a best finish of seventh in 2008.
He recorded the only bogey-free score of the third round with a 70 that moved him to nine under, three shots clear of Masters Tournament champion Danny Willet.
Round 4 is now well under way under sunny skies at the magnificent K Club, with the only AA Red Star hotel in the country, it looks like a huge white French chateau built right on the banks of the Liffey river, just outside Dublin.
Welshman Bradley Dredge has made three birdies in a row to get to -6 along with Willett, but Rory is really in charge, driving the ball beautifully, trying to eliminate any bogey's and take his birdies as they present themselves.
There are ominous black clouds arriving in the area as I write, it looks like rain...
