Windless Plantation course at Kapalua playing like a "pitch and putt"... 54 hole results

PGA Tour : The Sentry Leaderboard

The Scots have a saying "nae wind, nae golf" and that old adage applies to this scenic Plantation course at the swanky Kapalua Resort on the paradise island of Maui.

In 2022 it was flat calm and Aussie LIV golfer Cameron Smith broke the PGA Tour scoring record -34 to beat Jon Rahm.

This year is the same as the forceful trade winds are abated and this top field of 60 players are playing it like a pitch and putt course. with the par 73 playing to an average 67.1.

Hideki Matsuyama lines up his shot on the 12th hole during the first round of The Sentry 2025 at Plantation Course at Kapalua.

At the top it's a two horse race with Hideki Matsuyama breaking that record with 11 birdies on his way to a 62 -27 (65 65 62) matched by course specialist Collin Morikawa 2nd 66 65 62 -26.

Thomas Detry is 3rd 67 65 65 -22 he said of the conditions " I shot 65 and lost ground" !!!

Nobody can control Mother Nature, however may I suggest the course with the widest fairways on tour, might just be made a lot tighter to provide at least decent test especially when they are giving away an obscene $20,000,000.

With another windless day in store, expect more of the same.

Canadians

Corey Conners T9 66 66 69 -18

Taylor Pendrith T18  71 65 67 -16

Adam Hadwin  T21  67 69 68 -15

Nick Taylor T51  73 73 66 -7
