Englishman David Skinns can make a dream come true Texas Children's Houston Open ..leaderboard / TEE Times

PGA Tour : Texas Children's Houston Open  Leaderboard Tee Times

So Scottie Scheffler quite rightly will get ALL the coverage, publicity again this afternoon down at windy Memorial Park in Houston as he heads for his 3 straight win on the PGA Tour.

He's T1 at -9 with a Belgian,Thomas Detry, an Argentinian, Alejandro Tosti, a German Stephan Jaeger and a relatively unknown 42 year old Englishman David Skinns.

I say relatively unknown over here, but in the UK veteran scribes like Alistair Tait covered him for years when he was a top amateur, losing the final of the 2000 Boys Amateur Championship, representing England in the Men's Home Internationals 2000-2006 and Europe in the Palmer Cup 2003, 2006.

He picked up a bit of a drawl attending University of Tennessee where he met his wife Kristin, turned pro in 2005 and won seven times on the old Hooters Tour between 2008-12.

Then he toiled on the Web.com and Canadian Tours 2012 -16 before playing Web.com Tour in 2017 where he did enough to get full status for the first time in 2018 where he won the Pinnacle Bank Championship, but it wasn't enough to get his PGA Tour card.

Finally in 2021 after all those years he won the Pinnacle Bank again getting enough status to gain his PGA Tour card.

Earlier this year, he made headlines after missing the cut in his first 4 outings, he T4 at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches (Honda Classic) when he had a share of the lead on Sunday.

He MC at The Players and was 75th at the Valspar but here he is knocking on the door again.

The Masters awaits, 8 signature events next year and full playing privileges for 2 years, it would all be a dream come true for this world traveller, who's wife Kristin has been supporting the family with her job, to enable him to keep playing.

He is in the last pairing with Scheffler and Jaeger at 1230 edt.

Hey come on, Scottie doesn't need another win or the money !!
