Canadians Taylor, Hadwin with clubhouse lead WM Phoenix Open.... leaderboard

PGA Tour : Phoenix Open Leaderboard

It is very nice to see 2 Canadians atop any leaderboard, and quite rare, however with round 1 yet to be completed at this version of the WM Phoenix Open Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin have done just that with opening -5 66's.

It was a frosty morning in the desert, with play unfinished due to darkness after the early delay.

Hadwin started on the back nine with a bogey at 11, but settled in nicely with 6 birdies and all pars the rest of the day, "A great way to start the tournament in tricky conditions. You had to stay patient and try and pick your spots. We did a great job of that all day. I hit it steady all day and made a bunch of putts. The fans were great singing O' Canada was a treat.

Taylor beginning off the 1st, made an eagle at the par 5 3rd but turned in +1 after a double and a bogey. The back nine was magnificent with 6 birdies including 4 in a row from the 10th.

'With the N wind the front nine was tougher than the back. I made nice putts at 10 and 11 to get going, I knew I was swinging well, hit a bunch of greens, the birdies at 16 and 17 were a nice way to cap the day off."

These guys grew up together in Abbotsford BC and now both have winter homes in Phoenix.

Corey Connors was up and down all day, finishing T19 -1 70.

Taylor Pendrith T82 +2 73

Mac Hughes T105 +3 74

Adam Svensson is +3 thru 11 holes

These positions will change as round one gets finished this morning, and round 2 gets under way. Half of the field did not finish.

Weather : Sunny with a cool start 10*c and the wind will be blowing, this time from the E up to 26kph
