Spaniard Adrian Otaegui wins new Belgian Knockout on European Tour

European Tour Belgian Knockout leaderboard http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2018/tournamentid=2018042/leaderboard/index.html#/leaderboard

This week in Antwerp the European Tour continued on its path to make golf more exciting, more watchable for the fans with the inaugural Belgian Knockout and it has just wrapped up after a very busy week with Spaniard Adrian Otegui winning his 2nd title, beating Frenchman Benjamin Hebert by 2 shots at this 9 knockout hole match medal play.

Here's how it works.

A 144-man field came to Rinkven International Golf Club as the European Tour returned to Belgium for the first time since 2000 and that field was cut to 64 after two days and 36 holes of straight forward stroke play - with a little help from an 11-man play-off.

There were then six rounds of nine-hole stroke play knockout to determine the winner, with bumper crowds lining the fairways over all four days of the event, which was organised and hosted by Belgium's Thomas Pieters and his family.

Next week it's the European Tour's BMW PGA Championship, the flagship event at the wonderful tree lined Wentworth GC in Surrey, England.
