McIlroy, DeLaet will miss cut at rain plagued Honda Classic

PGA Tour Honda Classic leaderboard http://espn.go.com/golf/leaderboard?tour=pga

So far the story from PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens has been the weather and the sloppy play of the world's best Rory McIlroy who won't be around for the rest of this soggy weekend.

Prior to this event, McIlroy had four victories and four runner-up finishes in his last 12 worldwide starts, but he could never get on track at PGA National. He double-bogeyed his first hole on Thursday and ended up with a 73. After bogeying his first hole Friday morning, he endured two rain delays and managed just one birdie. Consecutive bogeys at the sixth and seventh holes (his 15th and 16th) 74 +7 pretty much ended his chances of playing on the weekend. He hit just 14 of 28 fairways and only 6 on Friday. He also hit just 18 of 36 greens.

The cut is projected at +4. I say projected because none of the late starters had enough light to play more than 12 holes before the second round was suspended, and play is due to resume at 645am this morning.

Patrick Reed recovered from a double-bogey early in his round by playing bogey-free the rest of the way for another 67. He is the clubhouse leader at -6 134

Canadians  Adam Hadwin is at +3 thru 9  David Hearn is +5 70 75, Graham DeLaet MC 75 75 +10

Weather  Variably cloudy with 65% chance of showers, hot humid, lightning in the area
