Live scoreboards as Oosthuizen leads in South Africa and Byrd in Maui

Good Saturday morning. Round 1 is done at the Hyundai and round 3 is underway at the Africa Open. There are live scoreboards here for both, your comments are welcome.

European Tour
Defending champion Louis Oosthuizen saw his overnight advantage halved by Tjaart Van Der Walt as the third round of the Africa Open began at East London Golf Club.

The former Open Champion carded a brilliant 62 on Friday to lead by two at the halfway stage, but despite birdieing his first three holes Oosthuizen was only one clear of Van Der Walt after four holes.

Van Der Walt birdied the first four – but it was still not quite as impressive as his performance on Friday when he played the same stretch in five under courtesy of a hole-in-one at the second and an eagle at the par five next.

South Africans continued to dominate the leaderboard, with first round leader Thomas Aiken and two-time US Open Champion Retief Goosen tied for third on 16 under, two behind Oosthuizen.

PGA Tour

I haven't been to Hawaii since 1987, but watching the coverage from Maui brought back a lot of great memories and a reminder how well worth while the long trip is once you get there. It's 12 hours non-stop from Toronto or longer if you go through Vancouver and after a whole lot of endless blue Pacific, the Hawaiian Islands are a stunning sight to see from the air.

pgatour.com  A new PGA TOUR season began with a familiar name atop the leaderboard Friday at Kapalua.

Defending champion Jonathan Byrd ran off six straight birdies early in his round, then stalled on the back nine and settled for a 6-under 67 that gave him a one-shot lead in the Tournament of Champions.
Byrd hasn't won since his playoff victory a year ago in the season opener. He felt a little uptight starting a new season, wanting to get off to a good start in breezy conditions on the Plantation Course. But after two holes, he looked as comfortable as ever.

It must have felt as if last season never ended for Webb Simpson, a two-time winner who was second in the FedExCup and on the PGA TOUR money list. Simpson played the last five holes on the front nine in 5-under par and shot 68 to match Steve Stricker, Michael Bradley and Martin Laird.

Thirteen players in the 27-man field of 2011 PGA TOUR winners broke par in gorgeous conditions along the cliffs of Maui. It's the smallest field since this event moved to Kapalua, hurt by 11 players who didn't or couldn't make it to Maui, and by Lucas Glover having to withdraw Friday morning because of a sprained knee from a paddle board accident last Saturday.
