New Year's Eve is for amateur's and if you are one of them please don't be throwing up on your neighbours rug at 1 in the morning.... You will have to face them later in the day !!
From the Angus family point of view, we are pretty glad to see the back of 2012 with health concerns, and job uncertainty at times, but there were many bright moments as well and we are heading into the new year with momentum..
As I said in my year in review it was another dramatic, exciting season, and just to warm your hearts here is my highlight of the year

Merry Christmas!!.. 2012 my Year in Review
Christmas Day has finally arrived, and I wish all of you a really nice day, the rushing around, frayed tempers, stress have all gone.. today will decide if it was worth it !!
Well Rory was the Story this year, but as always there was so much more, For me it was great for the game this year to see that Sean Foley finally has Tiger back as a serious contender, and the Ryder Cup finale on the last day of September at Medinah starting with Rory damn near missing his tee time right through to Martin Kaymer's pressure packed 10 footer to complete the most memorable comeback ever will never be topped.... or will it..
For my complete Year in Review click www.nextsportstar.com
In a couple of weeks last year's winners on the PGA tour will take their families out to Hawaii for the season opener as they ease into 2013 and we'll start all over again
Brad Fritsch joins our Canadian contingent, and we will see how the likes of Rebecca Lee-Bentham, Stephanie Sherlock and Alena Sharp do on the LPGA tour...
As always your comments are welcomed and don't forget you can watch me every morning from 7-9 on the Breakfast Club at www.nextsportstar.com and listen every Sunday morning between 8-10 on TSN1050radio on the International Sports Report.

No surprise.. Rory wins European Tour Player of the Year
The 23 year old Northern Irishman succeeds Luke Donald as winner of the coveted award, having also replicated the Englishman’s previously unprecedented achievement of winning both The Race to Dubai and the US PGA Tour Money List in the same season.
In August, McIlroy captured his second Major Championship, claiming the US PGA Championship at Kiawah Island by eight strokes and in doing so set a new record for the largest winning margin in the Championship, beating the seven stroke triumph of Jack Nicklaus at Oak Hill in 1980. It also matched the winning margin he achieved during his maiden Major triumph in the 2011 US Open Championship at Congressional.
He also won three times on the US PGA Tour – in The Honda Classic, the Deutsche Bank Championship and the BMW Championship – and played a vital role in Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup winning team, before ending a magnificent personal year by winning The European Tour’s season finalé, The DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, in style, birdieing the final five holes on the Earth course to triumph by two strokes.
That fifth title worldwide in 2012 also meant McIlroy finished The European Tour season with record earnings of €5,519,118, beating the previous mark of €5,323,400 set by Donald last year, as he became the youngest player to win the Harry Vardon Trophy since Scotland’s Sandy Lyle in 1980 and the fourth youngest in total behind Seve Ballesteros, Dale Hayes and Lyle.
McIlroy can now add The Race to Dubai European Tour Golfer of the Year award to his list of accomplishments in 2012, which includes winning the Golf Writers’ Trophy on this side of the Atlantic as well as the PGA Tour Player of the Year honours in the United States.
The judging panel, which featured golf journalists from newspapers and magazines as well as commentators from radio and television, also reserved praise for several other worthy candidates, specifically Englishman Ian Poulter, who won four points out of four in Europe’s Ryder Cup victory as well as claiming his second World Golf Championship title in China in November, and South African Branden Grace, who won four times on The European Tour in 2012 after securing his card at Qualifying School the previous November.
But McIlroy, who was announced as the winner at the annual Golfer of the Year Luncheon at the Lancaster Hotel in London, received the unanimous vote from the panel to become only the second Northern Irishman, following his friend Graeme McDowell (who shared the award with Germany’s Martin Kaymer in 2010), to receive the accolade

Rookie Popovic wins Aussie PGA, Schwartzel laps the field at the Dunhill
COOLUM, Australia -- Australasian Tour rookie Daniel Popovic completed an improbable wire-to-wire victory in the Australian PGA, shooting a 3-under 69 earlier this morning for a four-stroke victory.
Popovic finished at 16-under 272 at the Palmer Coolum resort. The Australian opened with rounds of 64, 70 and 69.
Rod Pampling birdied the first six holes to take the lead after nine holes, but dropped four strokes on the final three holes -- making bogeys on 16 and 17 and a double bogey on 18 -- to fall into a tie for second with fellow Australian Anthony Brown. Pampling had a 69, and Brown shot 71.
Popovic nearly quit golf earlier this year to care for his seriously ill father.
Pampling looked set for his first win since the Australian Masters in 2008. He has two wins on the U.S. PGA Tour, the last in 2006 at the Bay Hill Invitational. This year, he finished just outside the top 125, 127th place to lose his PGA tour card, then failed at qualifying school two weeks ago, meaning he will have only conditional status next year in the U.S.
Errant tee shots on 16 and 17 led to bogeys, then his approach on 18 went into the water.
Geoff Ogilvy, trying to be among the top three here to ensure he'd finish inside the top 50 in year-end world ranking and earn a spot in the U.S. Masters next year. But shot 69 a Sunday and tied for fourth, a stroke short.
Meanwhile is South Africa. http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2013/tournamentid=2012096/leaderboard/index.html?showLeaderboard=Y
MALELANE, South Africa -- Charl Schwartzel won by a huge margin for the second week running as the South African coasted to a comprehensive 12 shot victory in the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek.
A winner by 11 shots in Thailand last Sunday, the talk at the start of the day was not whether the 28 year old would win an eighth European Tour title, but if he could better Tiger Woods’ 15-shot winning margin at the 2000 US Open Championship in doing so. That remains the largest in European Tour history.
A third straight 64 would have seen last year’s Masters Tournament champion equal Ernie Els’ record 29 under par total, but as it was Schwartzel settled for a three under par 69 and 24 under total on a final day disrupted by thunderstorms.
Schwartzel's return to full fitness and form has become clear after he struggled for much of 2012 with a torn chest muscle.
In his last five tournaments, he has finished fifth at the South African Open, tied for third at the season-ending World Tour Championship in Dubai, second at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, won in Thailand, now wins again here. He collected the Alfred Dunhill title in 2004 for his first career win on the European Tour

Tom Watson named 2014 US Ryder Cup captain
Tom Watson has been named United States Ryder Cup captain to be held at Gleneagles in 2014.
Arguably the greatest Open champion of the past 100 years he will captain the team for the second time.
Three weeks after his 65th birthday he is the oldest American captain of all time, he is a good decade older than any captain of either side for more than 40 years
His age will raise questions as he plays a very limited schedule and almost exclusively on the Champions Tour so is not in touch with his players week-in, week-out.
It is a reasonable question, it's been 13 seasons since Tom played the PGA Tour regularly.
However I think it's an inspired choice, certainly over another quiet diminutive choice like David Toms, or Corey Pavin.. Europe has certainly had more flambouyant captains in Seve, Monty and now Darren Clarke.
In four Ryder Cups as a player and one as a captain, Watson has never been on a losing side. Given that losing has become a habit for the US, with seven defeats in the past nine matches, that winning mentality he has always possessed can only be for the good. As a Scot I cann assure you Tom Watson is a legend in Scotland where he won all 5 of his Opens. BryanA

At 53, Peter Senior has become the oldest winner in Australian Open history after surviving gale-force wins on a brutal final day to beat Brendan Jones by one shot in fading light at The Lakes.
On a dramatic Sunday that saw play suspended for three hours after 80km/h winds made the course unplayable, the ultra-consistent Senior carded an even-par 72 to finish at four under for the championship. Only 6 players broke par.
It was an impressive performance from Jones (71), who pushed Senior to the limit with two back-nine birdies and an eagle to card the only sub-par round of the final 17 pairings on Sunday.
Cameron Percy (73) finished in outright third at minus two, one clear of Kim Felton (72), Kieran Pratt (75) and Rose (76)

" Anchors away me boys"....and girls..
'Throughout the 600-year history of golf, the essence of playing the game has been to grip the club with the hands and swing it freely at the ball,' USGA Executive Director Mike Davis said. 'The player’s challenge is to control the movement of the entire club in striking the ball, and anchoring the club alters the nature of that challenge
So with that the R&A and the USGA gave decided to ban the anchoring that is inherent in using the long or belly putter. This I agree with although there are several things about the announcement that has the golf world buzzing that raises my ire.
* First of all it was the same governing bodies that allowed players to anchor back in 1989 that has led to yesterday's ruling.. Talk about hoisting yourself by your own petard..
* Next, the ban doesn't take place until 2016. I realize these suits change rules in 4 year cycles, but come on, if it is so bad, it starts on January 1, 2013..
* On the PGA tour this year 39 winners had regulation putters, 6 anchored. This ruling will lessen the enjoyment of golfing for millions of recreation golfers who might even be using them for health reasons (bad backs etc) for the sake of a very few pros.
I have always argued that anchoring simply is wrong. It is against the fundamental principle that to putt well, you have to be able to control your nerves, and for those who can't it shows up in their hands. Anchoring removes that problem, especially when you combine it with the claw grip, thus completely removing the hands.
As for we duffers, we break the rules of golf every time we play, foot wedges, 6 foot gimme's, tip ups, mulligans, you know them all don't you. So while I agree we all should be bound by one set of rules I am sure we will continue to see those ugly big sticks in golf bags long beyond 2016..
It may be "Anchors Away" for the pros and top amateurs, but along with the foot wedge and all the rest, I feel we weekend warriors will be humming the same old song..

Fritsch finishes T7, Hadwin 32nd at Q School..Live scoring links including all Canucks
This is the last year for Q school as we know it. There are 172 entrants for the men and only the top 25 will get their cards. It's a total stroke play event over 6 gruelling rounds at PGA West in California
Next year the players who finish 126-200 on the PGA Tour and the top 75 from the Web.com Tour will play 3 tournaments and the top 50 will get their cards. There will be a Q school but only for the Web.Com Tour.
I feel that's a shame because as many of you will know, Q school is full of thrills and spills and there aren't any tournaments all year with more tension.

Rory is the Story in Dubai.. live scoring links to all tours
Rory McIlroy has already won it, but the Race To Dubai officially wraps up at the Earth Course in Dubai this weekend. Expect to see Tour officials tweak the format this year so the outcome has a better chance of hinging on this final week..
You may remember Luke Donald had to travel to Florida for the season ending event last year to ensure he edged out Webb Simpson or the PGA Tour money title and in fact he finished 3rd in Dubai to wrap up the European Tour money title.
The Japan and Australasian Tours are in full swing as is the Sunshine Tour in RSA and as always I will provide live scoring links and reports here for them all..

Defending champ Alviro Quiros..
Round 4 wrap
europeantour.com Rory McIlroy capped his remarkable 2012 season with victory at the DP World Tour Championship on a dramatic final day at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
The World Number One held off not only World Number Two and playing partner Luke Donald, but also Justin Rose - whose Earth Course record 62 had threatened to spoil the Northern Irishman’s lap of honour after a year in which he has won The Race to Dubai, the US PGA Championship and the money list in America.
McIlroy had found himself two behind as Ryder Cup teammate Rose put the finishing touches to a dazzling ten under par display, the lowest round of his European Tour career by two.
But the 23 year old, tied for the lead with second-ranked Donald overnight, was not to be denied and finished with five closing birdies.
He chipped close on the long 14th, pitched to three feet at the next, made a 20 footer on the 16th and went one ahead with a six foot putt on the short 17th.
Rose had done miraculously well to two-putt the par five last for birdie from around 100 feet, but McIlroy matched it to win by two; shooting 66 for 23 under.
By adding the title to his Race to Dubai crown McIlroy earned himself a combined €1,822,520 to set a new record for a single-season earnings with €5,519,117.
It was his fifth victory during a 2012 which included a second Major title - like the first by eight shots - and the same money list double on both sides of the Atlantic achieved by Donald last year. This season he has finished in the top ten in ten of his 15 tournaments on The European Tour

EUROPEAN TOUR
DP World Tour Championship
Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Jumeirah Golf Estates, Earth Course (7,675 yards, par 72).
$8 million. 1st place: $1,333,560

Rory wins PGA of America and US Vardon Trophy awards
Rory McIlroy has just won the PGA of America and US Vardon trophies.
The world number one won four times in the US during a season in which he topped the money lists on both sides of the Atlantic.
McIlroy's victories included his second major win at the US PGA in August.
The Northern Irishman will also be favourite to land the PGA Tour's own player of the year award.
Tiger Woods was runner-up for the PGA of America's Player of the Year but ineligible for the Vardon Trophy because of his injury withdrawal during the final round of the WGC Championship in Miami in March.
But for that he would have finished with an average of 68.9 to McIlroy's 68.87 but second place instead went to Jim Furyk on 69.3.
The PGA Tour has its own Player of the Year award, and members have until 30 November to vote.
Rory is defending his title in Hong Kong this week having just wrapped up the Race to Dubai after his 3rd place finish in Singapore.

Matteo Manessero wins a playoff Singapore, Beljan wins at Disney..with live scoring links and all Canadian scores
The last official event of the year is the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic at the Disney Resort in Florida and of course it is life or death for all the guys who have not secured their cards and are around the 125 mark. Billy Mayfair is on that number right now.
Remember last year Luke Donald had to play this event as he and Webb Simpson were close for the money title. He shot 64 won the tourney and went on to win the money titles on both tours in his year of years.
Rory McIlroy is about to emulate him, he has already wrapped up the PGA tour and has a healthy lead as he plays in Singapore this week, on the European Tour.

pgatour.com Two days after he was wheeled out of the scoring room on a stretcher, Charlie Beljan was celebrating on the 18th green as the band played "Zippity-Do-Dah." He arrived at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic with his job in jeopardy, and left with a two-year exemption that will send him to the Hyundai Tournament of Champions at the start of the year, the PGA Championship at Oak Hill and lots of other tournaments where winners belong.
"Every day I drove underneath that Disney sign coming in here that said, 'Where dreams come true,' and that's just what happened this week," Beljan said after closing with a 3-under 69 for a two-shot win.
Robert Garrigus and Matt Every each closed with 68s and tied for second.
Tim Herron was the other big winner Sunday, closing with a 69 to tie for ninth. That gave him enough money to move from No. 138 to No. 124 on the money list, giving him his full card for the 2013 season.

Rory next to join Nike
Doug Ferguson AP
Rory McIlroy is officially a free agent when it comes to golf equipment.
McIlroy and Acushnet Co., which has supplied the 23-year-old star from Northern Ireland with Titleist and FootJoy gear since he turned pro five years ago, said Tuesday they will not extend their relationship after this year.
The announcement allows McIlroy to pursue a lucrative endorsement contract, with strong indications that he will sign with Nike in a deal that one industry observer estimated at $20 million a year. That would give Nike golf's two biggest stars in McIlroy and Tiger Woods, who has been with the swoosh since he turned pro in 1996.
McIlroy has established himself as the No. 1 player in the world this year, when he won four times and captured the PGA Championship at Kiawah, giving him eight-shot wins in two major championships. He won the PGA Tour money title, and is closing in on winning the European Tour money title.
This is the second time in the last 10 years that Acushnet, which has a history of fiscal prudence, has not stood in the way of a No. 1 player going after big money. Woods, who had an equipment deal with Titleist when he turned pro, left for the Nike golf ball in 2000 and then the Nike golf clubs in 2002.
Phil Mickelson won his first Masters with Titleist in 2004, and the Fairhaven, Mass., company let him out of his contract later that summer to sign a lucrative deal with Callaway.
“Our goal has been to provide Rory with the best equipment and service that would help him be the best player he could possibly be,” Acushnet chief executive Wally Uihlein said in a statement. “He has been a great ambassador for the Titleist and FootJoy brands, and in turn, we are proud of how our equipment has contributed to his success. We wish Rory all the best, both personally and professionally, going forward.”
McIlroy, who defeated Woods in an 18-hole exhibition in China on Monday, thanked the Acushnet staff for “five very exciting and successful years.”
“I will always appreciate the contribution Titleist has made in helping me become the player I am today,” McIlroy said.
Not since Woods has a player had this much potential at such a young age. McIlroy was 19 when he won the Dubai Desert Classic for his first win as a pro, and he followed that with a 62 in the final round to win at Quail Hollow for his first PGA Tour win.
McIlroy shattered U.S. Open scoring records last summer at Congressional to win by eight shots, and when he won his second major at Kiawah Island in August, he became the youngest player since Seve Ballesteros in 1980 with two majors. Only five players have won majors by at least eight shots since 1976 — three by Woods, two by McIlroy.
They have become friends in recent months. They were in the same group five times during the FedEx Cup playoffs, and the conversation came easily. That led to the 18-hole exhibition on Monday, the first time Woods has agreed to a head-to-head match since the old “Battle at Bighorn” days against Sergio Garcia. McIlroy won by one. Walking off the fourth hole, McIlroy even took one of Woods' Nike clubs and took a few practice swings.
Now, it appears likely both will be using the same equipment next year.
“We are declining comment on rumors and speculation,” Nike spokeswoman Beth Gast said.
McIlroy is not playing the HSBC Champions this week in China. He will close out his European Tour season starting the following week with the Singapore Open, the Hong Kong Open and the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. He would have two months until his next tournament in Abu Dhabi, giving him time to test new equipment.
McIlroy has gone through a series of changes since winning his first major last summer at Congressional. He left agent Chubby Chandler a year ago and signed with Conor Ridge of Irish-based Horizon Sports Management. He took up membership on the PGA Tour, where he is a lock to be voted player of the year. Changing the very tools he uses will be the biggest change of all.
Still to be determined is how any deal with Nike would affect the rest of McIlroy's deals. He has endorsements with Jumeirah Estates, Oakley, Audemares Piguet and Santander bank. Nike typically prefers a clean look for its athletes, with rare exception. Woods and Anthony Kim had separate endorsements for their golf bags.
Even as McIlroy was getting courted by other companies, Titleist did not put up a big fight. The company has a history of putting the brand before the player, as it did with Woods, Mickelson, David Duval after he reached No. 1 in the world and Sergio Garcia.
It prides itself on having the most tour players use its golf ball, though it also has some 80 players around the world under contract to use its golf balls and golf clubs. This year might have been particularly costly, however, especially with incentive clauses in the contracts. It had six players from the top 16 in the world as full staff players — McIlroy, Adam Scott, U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson, Jason Dufner, Steve Stricker and Nick Watney
McIlroy and Acushnet Co., which has supplied the 23-year-old star from Northern Ireland with Titleist and FootJoy gear since he turned pro five years ago, said Tuesday they will not extend their relationship after this year.

Ottawa Senators sign a new player !!

Round 4 wrap
pgatour.com Nick Watney missed a chance for a 59 on Sunday in his CIMB Classic victory, closing with a bogey for a course-record 10-under 61 at The MINES Resort & Golf Club.
Needing a birdie on the par-4 18th for a 59, Watney drove into the left rough, failed to reach the green with his approach and left his long birdie pitch just short of the putting surface.
The American finished at 22-under 262 and earned $1,098,000 in the unofficial PGA TOUR event. The tournament will become a full-fledged PGA TOUR event next year when the TOUR begins its new season in October after the FedExCup Playoffs.
Defending champion Bo Van Pelt and Robert Garrigus tied for second, a stroke back. Needing a birdie on 18 to force a playoff, Van Pelt saved par for a 66. On Saturday, needing a closing birdie for a 59, he made a double bogey for a 62.
Garrigus also finished with a 66 in the official Asian Tour event.
Tiger Woods shot a 63 to tie for fourth at 19 under with Chris Kirk and Zimbabwe's Brendon de Jonge. Kirk shot 67, and de Jonge had a 66.
It was 100 +F in the shade, sickeningly humid on a resort course, playing lift clean and place and as a result it was no challenge for most of the 48 pro's who agreed to show up for this exhibition event..

Justin Bolli closed with a 6-under 65 on Sunday to win the Web.com Tour Championship, making him one of three players who moved into the top 25 on the money list to earn a PGA TOUR card for next season.
Bolli was No. 44 on the money list going into the Web.com Tour's final event of the year. He earned $180,000 to move to No. 9 with his two-shot victory over James Hahn, who birdied the last hole for a 69. The top 25 on the money list earned PGA TOUR cards
Adam Hadwin closed with a 65, getting up-and-down from behind the green on the par-5 18th at the TPC Craig Ranch for one last birdie. He was projected to go from No. 48 to No. 25 on the money list and earn his tour card if he stayed in a three-way tie for second with Hahn and Morgan Hoffman, who closed with a 64.
Hahn's second shot into the 18th went well right of the green and onto a cart path. He took a free drop, and then lofted a chip that stopped just inside 3 feet away. Hahn knocked in the short birdie putt to finish in second place by himself. Hadwin, who would have made $74,667 for a three-way tie for second, earned $58,000 for his two-way tie for third. The difference was enough to allow Jim Herman to finish 25th on the money list.
Brad Fritsch finished T9 however and does win his card for next year..finishes 18th

pgatour.com When David Frost holed a 20-foot putt for a par at No. 11 and then saved par with a 30-foot putt at No. 14, he thought today just might be his day. And after watching Bernhard Langer lip out his birdie putt from 10 feet on the first playoff hole, David Frost was right.
The South African holed a nine-foot birdie putt on the second hole of overtime to win the AT&T Championship at -8 208.
The two played together all three days and once Mark Calcavecchia, the tournament's 18- and 36- hole leader started to falter, it became a two-man duel midway on the back nine. Frost hit an 8-iron approach shot to within two feet of the 17thhole and tapped in for birdie to tie Langer who had taken the lead with birdie at No. 14.
Langer forced the overtime session by getting up and down from the greenside bunker at No. 18, holing a clutch seven-foot par putt. "I certainly didn't expect this," Frost said afterward. "I really relied on my putter today but I didn't expect Bernhard to miss on that first playoff hole. He's one of the best out here from 10 feet and in.".
Frost's six-stroke comeback is the largest in tournament history, surpassing Phil Blackmar's win in 2009 at Oak Hills when he came from five strokes back

Round 4 wrap
europeantour. Peter Hanson held off a magnificent late charge from Rory McIlroy to claim the biggest win of his career at BMW Masters in Shanghai.
The Swede beat the World Number One by a single shot after both hit closing rounds of 67 – but that barely told the story of a rollercoaster final round at Lake Malaren.
One ahead of McIlroy overnight, the 35 year old's sixth European Tour victory looked certain when he went four clear.
However, a thrilling finish materialised when McIlroy eagled the 15th, birdied the next to narrow the gap to two and then saw Hanson find sand at the short 17th.
The World Number 25 saved par from 15 feet, but still had a scary moment when his approach to the last came down in the bank of a bunker.
After being refused relief for a plugged lie, he did well to chip to ten feet and two putts for bogey and a 21 under par total were good enough after McIlroy had just missed his 15 foot birdie attempt from the back fringe.

Norwegian Espen Kofstad won the Apulia San Domenico Grand Final and with it was crowned Challenge Tour Number One with a superb performance in the season finale.
The 25 year old finished with a four under par 67 for a one shot victory over Dane Joachim B Hansen, who led for most of the day, and England’s James Busby, who was the 45th and final player to qualify for the event but signed off with a 66 to rise to 16th in the Rankings and earn a European Tour card for next season

Rory in Shanghai, Tiger in Malaysia this week..
Rory McIlroy has 4 official events coming up in the next 5 weeks as he tries to emulate his Ryder Cup colleague Luke Donald and win the money title on both sides of the Atlantic..
The Race to Dubai is in the stretch run starting with 2 big events in China...
First the strongest field assembled in Asia this year will be out to get its hands on a prestigious new title when the BMW Masters makes its debut from October 25-28.
Four of the top five players in the Official World Golf Ranking will be in action at Lake Malaren Golf Club, along with all but one of the victorious European Ryder Cup team, including Captain José María Olazábal. Among this world-class field are four players who are not only vying for the winner’s cheque of US$1.16 million (from a total prize purse of US$7 million, but are trying for a BMW double..
All the 2012 BMW title-holders will tee off in Shanghai: Rory McIlroy (BMW Championship, US PGA Tour), Luke Donald (BMW PGA Championship, The European Tour), Danny Willett (BMW International Open, The European Tour) and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño (BMW Italian Open, The European Tour).
For tee times click http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2012/tournamentid=2012082/teetimes/index.html
Next week the field moves to the WGC HSBC Champions where England’s Justin Rose heads the list of in-form 2012 Ryder Cup stars from October 29-November 4 at Mission Hills Guangdong, China, on the Olazábal Course where he will be joined by 9 of his Ryder Cup colleagues.
Phil Mickelson heads the charge of US Ryder Cup players with a point to prove and is joined by 2012 FedExCup Champion, Brandt Snedeker, Zurich Classic of New Orleans Champion, Jason Dufner, WGC Bridgestone Invitational winner, Keegan Bradley, Masters Champion, Bubba Watson and World Number 13, Dustin Johnson.
No Rory or Tiger though..
McIlroy and Woods, Nos. 1 and 3 in the world ranking, respectively, are set to play in a one-day Duel at Jinsha Lake exhibition in China on Oct. 29 The Duel will be held in Zhengzhou, the capital of the central province of Henan.
Not surprisingly, the timing of the event worked out with each of their schedules. The Duel will be held the Monday after both the CIMB Classic in Malaysia (an event Woods already has committed to play) and the BMW Masters in Shanghai for Rory then he misses the WGC but will play in Singapore, Hong Kong before wrapping his year in Dubai,,
I can only assume Tiger is getting a ton of appearance money to play in this unofficial CIMB Classic and of course there is the matter of the $6.1 million purse (divided among only 48 players) and the $1.3 million that goes to the winner.
The no-cut event in Kuala Lumpur is a third-year tournament. Woods and Jason Dufner are the only top-10 players in the world entered. Just eight of the top 50 in the world are participating, including defending champion Bo Van Pelt, who is coming off a victory in Australia.
The field is derived mostly from the final 2012 FedEx Cup points list, with 10 spots reserved for the top finishers on the Asian Tour's order of merit.
After the exhibition on Monday 29th in China with Rory, Woods will not play again until his World Challenge event that starts Nov. 29
After the two tournaments in China, the European schedule has four events remaining, the Barclays Singapore Open, the UBS Hong Kong Open, the SA Open Championship (in South Africa) and the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai where the Race to Dubai culminates for the top 60 players on the money list.

Sunday.. The Final Rounds..Bo Van Pelt wins in Australia...Gainey wins the McGladery
This week in golf has been dominated by Q school results and the news that the Canadian Tour will be known as PGA Tour Canada as of next year there is still a lot of important golf to be decided as we head into final rounds around the world on Sunday..
Here are the stories and live scoring links to them all//

pgatour.com Winning on the PGA TOUR is what Tommy Gainey dreamed about when he held a job wrapping insulation around hot water tanks, when he was playing more mini-tours than he can remember, when he was taking part in a Golf Channel reality series where he was best known as the guy wearing two gloves
Seven shots behind going into the final round of the McGladrey Classic, Gainey came within one putt of a 59, and then had to wait more than two hours as David Toms, Jim Furyk and tournament host Davis Love III -- who have combined for 49 wins, three majors and 17 Ryder Cup teams -- tried to catch him. None of them could.
Gainey broke the course record at Sea Island with a 10-under 60, which carried him to a one-shot win over Toms. He became the fourth player this year to rally from at least seven shots in the final round to win, helped by seven straight 3s on his card on the back nine

The Swede seemingly appeared from nowhere midway through the season, winning three times in four weeks in August to earn instant promotion to The European Tour, and upon returning to Challenge Tour duty this week, rose to the top of the Rankings with another hugely impressive win.
A four under par 67 in the final round in Denmark was enough to seal a three stroke victory from Englishman Simon Wakefield, who finished with a 68. It was a two-horse race for most of the final day, leaving Daniel Brooks of England to share third place with Finland’s Mikko Korhonen. .
