PGA Tour : Cadillac Championship Leaderboard Tee Times

The very early groups are just approaching the turn in Sunny hot 86*f Miami at this weeks signature event the Cadillac Championship on what is now called Trump National on the fabled Blue Monster course which has been completely restored from it's glory years as the Doral Open.

This it's inaugural season with a restricted 72 man field and no cut, Masters champion Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Matt Fitzpatrick from the owgr top 10 are not playing.

Darsh

There are 4 Canadians who have qualified, Corey Conners, Nick Taylor and Taylor Pendrith none of whom have been in great form, and Sudarshan Yellamaraju who has played very well.

FINAL EDIT >>> 26/04/30

Cameron Young continues his fine form,, the Players Champion drives it 10 yards longer than most PGA Tour pros, is straighter than 25% and is amongst the leaders in long iron play. Today he made putts from all over for a bogey free 64 to take the first round lead.

Jordan Spieth 65 is 2nd at -7 with Alex Smalley.

Canada's Nick Taylor T4 with one of his best rounds of the year, bogey free 6 birdie 66. He was out with 8 pars,1 birdie at the the 7th 35. However his back nine featured birdies at the 10th, 13th 15th 17th and a closing 18th, 31.

You have to go back to the season opener at the Sony Open where he opened with 62 to find his best of this season.

Canadians

Nick Taylor T4 66 -6

Taylor Pendrith T27 71 -1

Corey Conners T48 73 +1

Sudarshan Yellamaraju T52 74 +2

Note*** Pre tournament favourite Scott Scheffler opened well with 3 birdies 33, however 2 sloppy bogey's, a 6 at the par 5 10th where he was in 2 fairway bunkers, and a 5 at the par 4 11th was all he could muster in yet another indifferent opening round. T27 -1 71.

Final Edit>>>>> 26/04/30  1200hrs

Mikael Lindberg produced a fast finish to card a blemish-free 66 and hold a one-shot lead after day one of the Turkish Airlines Open.

Fast-finishing Mikael Lindberg leads by one after opening day in Türkiye

The Swede appeared unlikely to overtake early clubhouse pacesetters Alejandro Del Rey and Ewen Ferguson when he was level par for his opening eight holes, but four birdies across his closing six holes helped him hit the front at -6.

South African Daniel van Tonder also went bogey-free during the afternoon wave to card a -5 67 and make it a three-way tie for second on the leaderboard at the National Golf Club.

With sunny conditions, minimal breeze and preferred lies in place, it was a low scoring day in Belek, Antalya, with 62 players in the field finishing under par.

Lindberg was coming off the back of a career-best third-place finish in China last week and knows another good performance could earn him a spot at the US PGA Championship

“It was a very good day for sure,” he said. “Started off pretty slow though. I made a good few saves on the front nine and then knocked it close on 18 and from there, rolled in a few more.

“It’s pretty tricky. The greens are firming up a little bit so if you are a little bit offline it’s very difficult to get it close.

Martin Couvra, the defending champion, was one of five players along with fellow Frenchman Frederic Lacroix, Swedish duo Jens Dantorp and Adam Blomme and Englishman Sam Bairstow at -4 68, two back of the early pace.

Italian Matteo Manassero holed out for a spectacular eagle on the par-four sixth and he was in a big group at -3 69 that also included countryman and Major champion Francesco Molinari.

The Turkish Airlines Open marks the final event of the Asian Swing, before the European Swing begins next week with the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship.

Consider the Masters paid Rory $4,000,000, then for some reason RBC Heritage was designated for a $20,000,000 event right after all the drama a Augusta.

Now this week at 20,000,000 in Miami,  then next week at Quail Hollow now called the Truist Championship worth $20,000,000 with the alternative, Oneflight Myrtle Beach Championship for the rank and file to have a place to play.

Finally all this is topped off by the PGA Championship in Philadelphia on the Aronimink GC worth $25,000,000 maybe more.

In 45 days Matt Fitzpatrick just won $9,750,650 with his incredible historic run, 2nd Players, 1st Valspar, RBC Heritage, Zurich Championship with T18 Masters thrown in.

Who needs that silly LIV money now ??

DP World Tour

Here are some guys you may not know who have benefitted greatly from the Strategic Alliance of a few years ago that rewards the DP World Tour players who finish in the Race to Dubai top 10, with dual membership for a year on the PGA Tour.

These guys had never played for a $20m purse on the DP World Tour, Jordan Smith, Matt Wallace, Harry Hall, Aldrich Potgieter.

Canadian Sudarshan Yellamaraju continues his meteoric rise after qualifying #8 Anon top 10 he played the RBC Heritage signature 2 weeks ago and is back in this field again this week.

Still at #1 Scott Scheffler who plays almost exclusively on the PGA Tour, will be the favourite here although he has been shut out by Rory and Matt  in recent events, settling for runner up on both occasions, he has just one win this year so far.

Justin Rose now owgr #5 as his renaissance at 45 years of age continues will play his with his new multi million dollar contract from McLaren Racing to play their new high end market clubs for the first time. The bag is orange and the club's are in the orange and black team colours.

Inside this week's Turkish Airlines Open... Entry list includes Canada's Aaron Cockerill

DP World Tour : Turkish Airlines Open Entry List

There's plenty at stake for DP World Tour members as the Asian Swing reaches its climax this week at the Turkish Airlines Open. Here are your five things to know.

A new venue

The eyes of the golfing world turn to Antalya, with Belek's National Golf Club, located within Regnum Hotels, taking on host venue duties for the first time for Türkiye's national open, after the Montgomerie Maxx Royal and Regnum Carya previously served as the backdrop

RegnumCarya_National_Golf_Club-21(1)
A par 72, measuring 7,287 yards, the course at the National Golf Club is Türkiye's first internationally acclaimed course. The current course record is 66 (-6) set by Bernd Ritthammer of Germany at the Turkish Airlines Challenge in 2014. Should that be broken this week, $40,000 will go to the first player to do so.

Situated on the Turkish Riviera, Belek has become synonymous with high-quality golf tourism, welcoming hundreds of thousands of golf visitors annually.

Club General Manager Hasan Ceylan said: “Hosting such a prestigious tournament at our club, in collaboration with Turkish Airlines and the DP World Tour, is of great significance for both our course and Turkish golf as a whole."

Couvra defends

Martin Couvra

With victory at last year's edition, Martin Couvra was one of 19 players to win their first DP World Tour title during the 2024-25 DP World Tour season. A graduate of the HotelPlanner Tour in 2024, the Frenchman posted a brilliant closing 64 to finish with a -17 total and claim a two-shot victory on his debut at the Turkish Airlines Open.

Finishing 19th in the Race to Dubai Rankings, he was named the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year for 2025, becoming the second French player to win the prestigious award.

Inside the field

Players representing 32 countries are set to tee it up, reinforcing the globality of the DP World Tour and the opportunities it provides. No fewer than seven winners so far this season are among the 156-player field, including the returning Jayden Schaper from South Africa, who at third is the highest ranked player in the Race to Dubai standings following his back-to-back wins at the tail end of 2025.

edit >>>Canada's lone Canadian, veteran Aaron Cockerill off his T45 last week in China will hope to crack the Race To Dubai's top 100, currently at #126 as he seeks his 1st DP World Tour title.

However, a piece of history is being made this week as 17-year-old Yordan Yanakiev becomes the first Bulgarian to play on golf's Global Tour. There are four Turkish golfers on show too for the home crowds, including Leon Acikalin, who became the first Turkish player to make the cut at his national open last year.

Major spots up for grabs as Swing ends

With a prize fund of $2.75 million and the added incentive of qualification for the US PGA Championship for the top-three DP World Tour members on the Asian Swing Rankings at the end of this week, there is plenty at stake.

Jordan Gumberg is in pole position ahead of the Swing's climax, Bernd Wiesberger - a winner on the DP World Tour again for the first time in almost five years - is T2 alongside Alex Fitzpatrick, who is exempt for next month's Major Championship at Aronimink after his history-making PGA TOUR win alongside his brother Matt over the weekend.

The winner of the Asian Swing also qualifies for all the Back 9 events and receives a US$200,000 bonus.

Evolution of a global event

While relatively young, the Turkish Airlines Open has played a significant role in the expansion of the DP World Tour’s international footprint. From its inception in 2013, Tiger Woods made an appearance, the event quickly became a popular stop for players at this ultra luxurious resort at Regnum Hotels on the Turkish Riviera.

It rose in stature further in 2017 when it was elevated to the Rolex Series, continuing to attract some of the sport’s biggest names and proving central to the Tour’s end-of-season narrative.

After a three-year period in which it formed part of the Tour's leading high-profile events, and following a five-year hiatus between 2020 and 2024, the tournament returned in 2025 through valued ongoing backing from title partner Turkish Airlines and the Turkish Golf Federation, all hoping to attract a share of the lucrative European winter golf holiday packages that traditionally exist in Spain and Portugal.

It is her 2nd Chevron in the last 3 seasons, equalling the tournament 54 hole record -20 but fell 2 short of the 72 hole record with her -18 total.

"Honestly, having that big of a lead, it's not easy. It was definitely one of the hardest things I've had to do mentally.

"I have an amazing support system. An amazing family who are right behind me. An amazing caddie who is on the bag and I'm just happy to get it done."

Korda takes her tally of majors to three, after also winning the Women's PGA Championship in 2021.

After rounds of 65 on Thursday and Friday, Korda followed with successive rounds of 70 over the weekend at Houston's Memorial Park.

Thailand's Patty Tavatanakit began the day five shots adrift in second but was unable to reduce the deficit, having also ended her tournament with a two-under-par 70.

Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick hail from Sheffield in South Yorkshire

At the end of a tense, emotional Sunday, usually reserved for Augusta, not befitting the usual fare for this two man team play, fun family week at the Zurich Classic, Matt Fitzpatrick, struggling with his game after the best 43 days of his career, nailed a 40 yard bunker shot under the gun, stiff at the 72nd hole, this time for his younger brothers immediate future on the PGA Tour.

A 71 for a -31 total just edging Alex Smalley/ Hayden Springer and Kristoffer Reitan/ Kris Venturi who get honourable mention after their eagle 3 at the last, for the day's best score of 65 -30.

It turned out to be a fairytale ending for parents, Russell and Sue and their Fitzpatrick family. Just look at why Matt is the best golfer in the world over the last 43 days, right now!

April 26    1st Zurich Insurance Classic $1,372,750    Total $9,650,750 in 43 days

This is Tiger Woods run of play, without me being silly, with no disrespect to one of the world's best.
