Kevin Thistle leaving Coppinwood

After 5 full seasons at Coppinwood Kevin Thistle has sent a letter to the members advising them he is stepping down from his role as President and GM of the private facility in Uxbridge.

In a phone conversation he told me that it is an amicable split, members of the ownership group are going to take a more hands on approach this year, and decided to cut back on expenditure.

After 16 years building Angus Glen into one of this country's top "public" facilities, the new owners at Coppinwood came to Kevin during a time of turmoil and asked him to bring his members are kings attitude and experience to right their ship.

Kevin went from overseeing up to 4 tournaments plus public play a day, 7 days a week at Angus Glen to one tournament a week, and the challenges of dealing with a small but demanding membership.

"It was a different challenge for sure but I enjoyed it and am glad to be part of the growth the club has enjoyed in the last 5 years"

Kevin will take some time with his wife and 2 children to look ahead, he told me he has had several calls, nothing in stone, and will continue to use the membership he has at the club when and if spring ever rolls around.
