PGA Tour : Valero Texas Open..Tee Times Leaderboard
For those of you who don't know about Scotland's Robert "Bob" McIntyre, in a world of wealthy young men on the PGA Tour, many born into money, most afforded full scholarships at very wealthy universities, paving the way for their shot at a pro career, whatever route that takes.
Robert is so working class, only a scolding mother would use that full name, to everyone he is simply Bob.
From an important scenic little town on Scotland's west coast an hour north of Glasgow, Oban is the gateway to the islands dotted in the Irish sea up to the Arctic Ocean, the semi circle harbour is a combination of business and tourism.
Bob's father Dougie a life long groundskeeper at Glencruitten GC taught his shy son the game after work and found he had a talent for the game. Fast forward he was offered a scholarship at McNeese State University, in Louisiana and immediately won the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year.
He was homesick though, returning to Oban and his mates and family where he won the Scottish Amateur Championship in 2015 then represented GB&Ire in the 2017 Walker Cup.
He now has 6 Championships, 4 on the DP World Tour including his national championship at St Andrews in the rain in 2025. 2 more on the PGA Tour including our Canadian Open with his dad Dougie on the bag.
He is a stalwart on the Ryder Cup Team, all this a remarkable story from humble beginings for the Scottish lefty.
This week he has posted 66 64 -14 and has the clubhouse lead by 4 shots with the late wave still in play.
