In front of his fiance, family, friends and an adoring English crowd, 6'5" Chris Wood went out in 29 and came home in 40, but his 69 was enough for the biggest win of his career.
He has secured a 5 year playing exemption, a spot in the Open Championship, 3 years exemption for the US Open, about $1m and possibly a place in Darren Clarke's Ryder Cup squad !
He won by a shot over Swede Rikard Karlberg who charged in with the round of the day -7 65.

Jordan Spieth grabbed most of the headlines with his first win in Texas, setting up a Jordan, Rory, Jason match up at Jack's Memorial this week. Here's a summary of the weekend, including final scoreboards and Canadian results with links to them all.

He birdied his final three holes, chipping in from behind the 17th green and closing with a 35 foot birdie bomb to finish three strokes ahead of Harris English.

He finished at -19 265 to break the tournament record of 268 set by Sam Snead in 1973 at PGA National. Of note, Bernhard Langer T3 at -13 as he was trying to become the first player to win all five PGA Tour Champions majors

Derek has been part of the Canadian golf scene for nearly 20 years, and has battled back from a terrible car crash several years ago that nearly took his life.

Masters champion Danny Willett led the pack of leaders through a frustrating Saturday afternoon on a very firm West Course at Wentworth in breezy conditions.
His +4 76, along with Scott Hend 73, Jaco Van Zyl 75, YE Yang 75 has thrown this very lucrative BMW PGA Championship wide open as play gets underway this morning.
Whoever wins gets nearly $1m in their jeans, a 5 year exemption on the European tour, and a 3 year exemption to the US Open, not to mention a ton of Ryder Cup points.
How about Lee Westwood, now 43 coming off a T2 at the Masters and a top 10 last week at the Irish Open. He is living on painkillers after tearing a ligament in his ankle while running on Tuesday, and wouldn't he just love to have his great pal and Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke pick him again for the defending champions.
He and his wife Laurae Coltart split last summer, he's dating a model Helen Storey, Laurae and the kids, Sam and Poppy are up in Aberdeen, while Lee has left Florida and moved back to Worksop to be near them.
The lawyers are sorting out the details of his $60m fortune.
There are 8 players within 3 shots of the lead currently held by the lanky Englishman Chris Wood who is at -10 and remember the back 9 at Wentworth has 3 par 5's including the 17th and 18th.

Willett saving BMW PGA Championship's blushes

The prize fund was just over 60,000 quid when Arnold Palmer won this championship when it was sponsored by Penfold back in 1975, last year it was 5,000,000 when Korean sensation Byeong Hun An won it in the 11th year of BMW's sponsorship.
It was then and has always been the flagship event for the European Tour , mostly played at the HQ for golf at Wentworth, and all that tour's biggest names and a smattering of American stars have traditionally supported it.
Seve, Tony Jacklin, Nick Faldo, Monty, Woosy, Langer, a who's who of the European game have joined the King on that coveted trophy
This year, Masters champion Danny Willett (9) is saving the blushes of new CEO Keith Pelley and his staff as he currently leads by 3 shots after rounds of 66 68 -10. None of Jason Day (1) Jordan Spieth (2), Bubba Watson (4) or Rickie Fowler (5) would have any allegiance to be here, but with no Rory (3) or Henrik (6) or Adam (7) or Justin (10), the field is lacking in star power.
Rory went all in last week, sponsoring and winning his national championship at the K Club and has supported and won this PGA championship in the past, as have the others. But he is back home in Florida as he recovers from his Irish hangover, and begins next week at Jack's place for his run at the US Open.
A combination of the top players divided loyalties, this crowded summer schedule with the inclusion of the Olympics, the Ryder Cup, and the strong influence from Jack Nicklaus and his $8.5m Memorial tournament next week has taken it's toll on this field.
Luke Donald and Lee Westwood were once world #1's but are past their prime and while there are 8 different flags up on the current leaderboard, guys like Scott Hend, YE Yang, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Felipe Aquilar and Jorge Campillo must have the suits at the Golf Channel wondering why they have spent a fortune sending their entire broadcast crew over there when nobody but guys like me are watching.
So it's up to Danny boy this week. He has become a rock star in England, taking 4 weeks off to deal with all the media, and if he can hold on and win, not only will he be delighted, but so will everyone else in the tour's head office.

Bernhard Langer takes control at the Regions Tradition

AP...Bernhard Langer surged to a four-stroke lead Saturday in the Regions Tradition.
A stroke behind leader Kenny Perry entering the round, Langer shot a 3-under 69 to move to -12 204 in the first PGA Tour Champions major of the year, while Perry and others stumbled at Greystone.
The 58-year-old Langer won the Chubb Classic in February for his 26th victory on the 50-and-over tour.
Perry held the lead after each of the first two rounds but had a double bogey on the opening hole on his way to a 74. He and Scott McCarron, who shot a 72, were tied for second place at -8 going into the final round.
John Daly was among five players at -7 after a 69. Playing in his second PGA Tour Champions event, the two-time major winner had a double bogey, two bogeys, an eagle and five birdies.
Canadians Stephen Ames 72 71 75 +2 and Rod Spittle 72 72 75 +3 are well back.

Rory McIlroy put himself in prime position to win his national Open for the first time as the third round of the Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation was completed earlier this morning.
He has 12 wins on the European Tour, including his four Major Championships but had missed the last three cuts at the Irish Open with a best finish of seventh in 2008.
He recorded the only bogey-free score of the third round with a 70 that moved him to nine under, three shots clear of Masters Tournament champion Danny Willet.
Round 4 is now well under way under sunny skies at the magnificent K Club, with the only AA Red Star hotel in the country, it looks like a huge white French chateau built right on the banks of the Liffey river, just outside Dublin.
Welshman Bradley Dredge has made three birdies in a row to get to -6 along with Willett, but Rory is really in charge, driving the ball beautifully, trying to eliminate any bogey's and take his birdies as they present themselves.
There are ominous black clouds arriving in the area as I write, it looks like rain...

Adam Hadwin leads Canadians at AT&T Byron Nelson

On a day of low scoring on the par 70 TPC Four Seasons Resort course in Irving Texas it was Kiwi Danny Lee who topped them all with a -7 63.

Muirfield GC taken off Open Championship rota after voting against women.
This morning Sky Sports sent out a tweet that the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers (HCEG) at Muirfield had voted against allowing women to become members of their 272 year old club. They needed a two thirds majority (or 66%) under their antiquated rules, and they fell just short at 64%.
This news has now been joined by this immediate reply from the Martin Slumbers of the R&A just up the A1 at St Andrews.
"We have consistently said that it is a matter for the Honourable Company to conduct a review of its membership policy and that we would await their decision.
"The R&A has considered today's decision with respect to The Open Championship. The Open is one of the world's great sporting events and going forward we will not stage the Championship at a venue that does not admit women as members.
"Given the schedule for staging The Open, it would be some years before Muirfield would have been considered to host the Championship again. If the policy at the club should change we would reconsider Muirfield as a venue for The Open in future."
HCEG captain Henry Fairweather said: "The Honourable Company is a members club, and, as such, the members decide the rules of the club, including its membership policy.
"Women will continue to be welcome at Muirfield on the course and in the clubhouse as guests and visitors, as they have been for many years."

From a personal point of view Muirfield is a wonderfully welcome place to play. The members could not have made us more comfortable, and lunch there is something very special, everyone seated at a long table in a simple room surrounded by some of the games most ancient and precious artifacts.
This announcement today however has been viewed on a world wide stage and is being met with astonishment by many and for sure it is not good for the game, nor the club.
Harsh Scottish critics have described Muirfield as a drinking men's club with a golf course attached, where old wealthy members show up daily for nine holes, then a few gin and tonics before wine and lunch. Those critics also say that the members couldn't care less what the rest of the world thinks..
I will point out that the R&A finally voted in favour of admitting women in 2015, but only after they changed their rules to make it only a majority vote that was necessary and in fact they made sure their membership world wide cast their vote.
If that were the case at Muirfield, women would be admitted and this announcement today would have been completely different.
I can't help but think the members I know there are very upset at the attention they are getting world wide and will move quickly to change their antiquated voting system to resolve the matter.

Golf's focus shifts to Europe for the next "fortnight"..

Today Rory McIlroy will have defending champion Søren Kjeldsen and Andy Sullivan for company over the first two days at the County Kildare venue at 13:25, then ten minutes after the world #3 has teed off it will be the turn of Masters Champion Danny Willett who leads the Race to Dubai rankings by more than a million points and he has been paired with Rafa Cabrera Bello, who sits third in the season rankings and finished tied fourth at this event last year, and European Tour legend Lee Westwood, for the first two days.
The crowds will also be out in force for the 8.35 tee time, which sees home favourite Shane Lowry head off from the tenth tee alongside Bernd Wiesberger and man of the moment Jeunghun Wang the 20 year old Korean sensation who has won for the last two consecutive weeks.
Rory has convinced a very strong field including fellow Irishmen Paddy Harrington and Graeme McDowell to come and play here and of course next week is the European Tour's flagship event.

Is Jason Day a cut above Rory and Jordan..

Jason Day didn't allow Sunday's final round to become interesting. Journeyman Ken Duke did get within two shots, but with Rory languishing and Rickie, Phil and Jordan missing the cut, the Aussie shot -1 71 to win from wire to wire by 4 shots and the real story for me came in the media tent after the win that one day will put him in the Golf Hall of Fame..
He wanted to win The Players Championship so badly that he wasn’t going to let anything stop him and the 28-year-old Australian wants to win a lot more.
“I want to be to be able to be looked back on and know that ‘he was one of the greats in the game.’ If I have the opportunity to do that, I’m going to try my best,” Day said after his four-shot victory. “And I have the opportunity to do that right now, try and work has hard as I can to really leave my footprint in this game. I’m very motivated to win as much as I can right now.”
We heard Jason say that all week. I just don't hear the other guys declaring that so bluntly, and they are interviewed more than most. It just sounds an awful lot like his buddy and mentor if you like, Tiger Woods.
He is firmly placed right now at #1, this was his seventh title in the last 10 months, he is clearly playing the best golf of the big 3 right now, and seemingly driven, and motivated the most.

Korean phenom Jeunghun Wang makes history at Mauritius Open

He's only 20 years old, he is Korean, his name is Jeunghun Wang and he has just made history by becoming the youngest player in European Tour history to win in back to back weeks, coming from behind this morning to win the Mauritius Open after winning the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco last week.
Today he caught and passed a guy called Siddikur Rahman who blew a 3 shot lead with 3 to play with a double bogey at 16 and a bogey at 17. Wang (69 70 71 72 -6) made birdie, Rahman (68 72 69 74 -5) made par at the 18th, giving the young star the win and they were the only two players under par as howling winds hammered the east coast of Mauritius.
Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgian and Estanislao Goya from the Argentine were T3 at even par 288.
The tour moves to Ireland for the Rory McIlroy sponsored Irish Open next week.

Lightning fast greens called "borderline unfair" as scores soar at Players Championship

" A mockery....out of control...no friction.. very difficult...a carnage...putting on a dance floor..shameful "are just some of the descriptions the players used to describe the speed of the greens they faced on Saturday on at TPC Sawgrass Champions course.
After a slew of 63's 64's 65's and 66's on Thursday and Friday fuelled in part by receptive greens, a combination of tough pins placements, and putting surfaces that sped up dramatically as they dried out and firmed up in the Florida sun and breezes took the players completely by surprise.
Rory called the greens borderline unfair in places, Graeme McDowell said players should be advised on the first tee when officials have dramatically sped up the greens.
Officials said they hadn't set up the greens any differently, although the pins sheet does show that they cut the holes 5 feet closer to the edges than they did on the first two days.
In the end Jason Day summed it up by saying it was the "toughest day he'd ever had on a golf course" as he gutted out a +1 73 to go into today's final round with a 4 shot lead at -14.
There were 149 three-putts or worse, Rory McIlroy 3 putted five times, Sergio Garcia had a 5 putt, Day a 4 putt, as scores soared from a field average of 71 on the first two days, to 75.59. Players watched in amazement time after time as their approach putts rolled 3,4, 5 feet past the hole.
There were only 6 scores under par, more scores in the 80's than the 60's.
Two exceptions to the rule shot up the leaderboard, Japanese star Hideki Matsuyama shot a -5 67, and 47 year old veteran, Ken Duke had what Johnny Miller called the round of the tournament, an improbable -7 65 to T2 at -10 along with German Alex Cjeka who managed an E 72.
Duke is playing with a steel plate in his wrist and was sidelined until February after he stood on a volleyball and fell awkwardly, and is now playing on a medical extension. Since he returned he has missed five cuts and his only had one top-50 finish.
Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickleson and Rickie Fowler missed the cut. Rory McIIlroy hit 16 greens in regulation but those five 3 putts led to a 75 -5.
Canadian scores : Adam Hadwin 70 70 74 -2 T34, David Hearn 71 71 72 -2 T34... Nick Taylor, Graham DeLaet MC.
In my opinion the players did have absolutely ideal scoring conditions on Thursday and Friday, and the locals say the wind shift from off shore to on shore is much drier and led to the dramatic acceleration in the green speed so the players for their part should have known that. Today the wind is back to off shore and has more humidity in it.
I think the guys were embarrassed yesterday, and I also think they will be better prepared mentally today. I also think the tournament officials, stung by all the criticism, will be placing the pins in more accessible locations.
All in all, the field will have to catch Jason Day who has won the last 4 times he has led after 54 holes and I say here he will make that 5.
Note : The Stadium course will be closed right after play today for what they are calling enhancement, It will re open for play in mid November.

Day's 63 a great start, but still a long way to go

Jason Day made the TPC Sawgrass look ridiculously easy on Thursday, tying the course record with his -9 63 for a 2 shot lead... but hold on a moment..
As Johnny Miller said in his post round summation, the course set up and the weather for the early wave, were a perfect storm for the lowest scoring average in the history of this championship.
Soft greens, reduced rough to 2" which is making fairways wider, generous pin placements at the front of many greens and benign conditions all combined to make scoring as easy as it can be on this tough championship course.
Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth were all in the late wave and shot 72. Rory said afterwards, " I don't know what course the guys played this morning but it certainly wasn't the one we played this afternoon, where the wind was up and the greens were drying out and getting crusty"
Said Rickie " This course is only going to get tougher and will be very difficult as always come Sunday, so I will try to play a good competitive round on Friday and we'll see how we all stand Friday night"
So for those who are gifting this championship to Day's 63 and all the other 65's 66's and 67's from the Thursday morning flight, let's just wait until the roles are reversed today, add up all the scores and I believe we will see a fairer reflection of the scoring.

10 years since Stephen Ames won the Players Championship

With 4 days of great weather in the forecast for Jacksonville Florida, the Players Championship gets under way this morning at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium course, yes the one with the famous 17th island green.
You'll have heard all the blether so far about how Jordan Spieth will play after his well documented collapse at the Masters, and that speculation my friends is what my granny used to call ' a whole load of blethering".
Jordan Spieth seemed to be the only guy in the press tent yesterday who isn't concerned. He will be just fine, alright. Remember when Rory blew up for an 80 to lose 2011 Masters ?? I think he managed to come back and win a few majors didn't he?
It's a shot makers course which doesn't favour any particular style, stats say the guy who has the best GIR (greens in regulation) will be the winner. It's a fun course to watch, typical of Florida it has water everywhere, all the way down the 18th and of course all around the 17th, where Rickie Fowler essentially won with his birdie barrage last year and it has a stronger field than any of the majors.
It was ten years ago, albeit when it was played in March, that Stephen Ames had his Sunday, shooting 67 in tough conditions winning by 6 shots for by far the biggest win of his career.
Many feel Stephen never achieved the success his smooth swing and great touch promised, still with 2 wins, he has over $20m in earnings and is getting on with life on the PGA Tour Champions where he has been playing well of late.
He split from his wife Jodi last spring, sold their home in Calgary and moved with his two teenage sons to a condo in Vancouver and is planning to buy a home and settle in Hawaii.
This year Graham DeLaet, David Hearn, Nick Taylor, and Adam Hadwin are the Canadian contingent in the field. Mike Weir who was T4 going into that Sunday 10 years ago does not qualify.
It will be fun, but would be great, if one of the above could emulate the week that Stephen had, now 10 years ago !

It was ten years ago, albeit when it was played in March, that Stephen Ames had his Sunday, shooting 67 in tough conditions winning by 6 shots for by far the biggest win of his career.
Many feel Stephen never achieved the success his smooth swing and great touch promised, still with 2 wins, he has over $20m in earnings and is getting on with life on the PGA Tour Champions where he has been playing well of late.
He split from his wife Jodi last spring, sold their home in Calgary and moved with his two teenage sons to a condo in Vancouver and is planning to buy a home and settle in Hawaii.
This year Graham DeLaet, David Hearn, Nick Taylor, and Adam Hadwin are the Canadian contingent in the field. Mike Weir who was T4 going into that Sunday 10 years ago does not qualify.
It will be fun, but would be great, if one of the above could emulate the week that Stephen had, now 10 years ago !

John Daly 'will move the needle" for PGA Tour Champions
Of all the golf played this weekend, James Hahn beating Roberto Castro in the playoff to win the Wells Fargo at Quail Hollow, or Ariya Jutanugarn becoming the first Thai winner on the LPGA Tour at the Yokohama Tire Classic, or Jeunghun Wang the young Korean winning the Trophee Hassan II in the pouring rain of Morocco just to name a few, my attention for the first time in a while was drawn to the PGA Tour Champions where Jesper Parnevik won the Insperity Championship, his first win in 15 long years.
That was good for the Champions Tour and what was even better was the return of John Daly.
In my opinion this is the best thing that has happened to that tour since Freddie Couples arrived 10 years ago, and let's be honest, the senior circuit needs a boost.
When the legends like Arnie Palmer, Lee Trevino and to a certain extent Jack Nicklaus joined the Senior Tour it became more compelling than the PGA Tour, remember this was pre Tiger.
While the recent arrival of great players like Bernhard Langer and Colin Montgomerie have added credibility and class, they don't make the casual fan sit up and take notice.

Jack, Gary and Lee were playing at the Insperity over the weekend, and when asked about Daly's return, Trevino said " he'll move the needle" and he is right. Moving the needle is the broadcasting term for increasing ratings.
More and more current pros who have turned 50 like Davis Love and Vijay Singh are not playing with their peers, Greg Norman would have moved the needle but had no interest, and Tiger is still a decade and a lot of if's away.
Golf is all about the young guys now, Rory, Jordan, Jason and Rickie with a huge world wide supporting cast have replaced the Tiger era, and the Champions Tour has lost many of our favourites like the big three, as well as guys like Ben Crenshaw, Nick Price, Mark O'Meara, Tony Jacklin, and guys like Tom Watson are nearing the end.
Daly has arrived just in time. This is not only good for this tour but for John Daly who is getting a second chance. His track record of personal disaster's and professional misconduct have not diminished his popularity with Joe fan.
In fact, he is much like the late mayor of Toronto Rob Ford, who despite his public and personal misbehaviour, was well remembered in his passing. The common man saying with empathy and forgiveness, we all have our demons, he meant well for us..
I am of the belief that winning the PGA Championship as a 21 year old in the rip it and grip it style that have made him famous was both the best and worst thing that happened to him.
The best is obvious, but the worst launched him into a public spotlight that he didn't have the personal tools, or support group to deal with, ala Jordan Spieth these days.
Now older, hopefully wiser, he is back with a regular gig, no longer begging for the sponsor exemptions that he far to often abused, and he wants to be here.
John Daly needs the PGA Tour Champions and it needs him. Seems like a perfect fit.

Rookie Hanson leads Trophee Hassan in rainy Rabat, Morocco

This morning has dawned in a pouring rain, not what you expect in Rabat, near the desert of Morocco, and England’s Chris Hanson faces one of the most important rounds of his golfing career on Sunday as he takes a one shot lead into the final 18 holes of the Trophée Hassan II.
A five under par 67 at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam handed the 30 year old Qualifying School graduate a one shot lead on six under for the week.
Hanson, who finished fourth in a Challenge Tour event in Madrid last week, has never finished higher than 39th on The European Tour, but carded five birdies, two bogeys and an eagle on the par-five 12th to sit a shot clear of compatriot David Dixon and Clément Berardo of France.
Having carded three birdies over his first 11 holes, Hanson suddenly found himself leading when his chip on the 12th hit the pin and dropped for eagle.

John Daly 70 73 -1 T21 has grabbed all the headlines with his Champions Tour debut and it's been a long week for a guy who hasn't been in the spotlight for a while.
After a practice round on Sunday, he has played in 4 pro-ams, speaking engagements at dinners, filming a commercial and of course countless interviews he says he's a bit tired going into today, but happy to be back with his peers.
He was paired with his pals Fuzzy and Peter Jacobsen for a very comfortable debut on Friday and says he will be changing to a heavier Scotty Cameron putter today to see if he can hole a few.

Roughly 3 1/2 inches of rain fell on Quail Hollow in the five days leading up to the start of the Wells Fargo Championship. A sub-air system kept the greens firm and blustery winds have continued to dry the course out with lightning fast greens.
Saturday's scoring average was the highest of the week at 73.692 with just five rounds under 70.
One of those was Rickie Fowler who fired a 68 to move right to the top of the leaderboard at -9 under for a 1 shot lead over Robert Castro (71)
Fowler is a much improved player since he won here in 2012 when he shot a final round 69 to come from 3 shots behind to win for the first time on the PGA TOUR. He beat Rory McIlroy and D.A. Points in a playoff , making birdie on the 18th in the sudden death to seal the win.
He has continued to grow and mature right in front of our eyes from the long haired kid with the oversized PUMA hat, to a solid pro, comfortable at world #5 in the company of his new contemporaries, including Rory, Jason and Jordan.
Next week he will defend the PLAYERS Championship he won last year in sudden death after a three-hole aggregate playoff and remember he then won the Deutsche Bank Championship and as he travels the world, has added a Scottish Open, and a win in Abu Dhabi as well. He has signed on with Butch Harmon who has given him a swing he can rely on under pressure
After his round he was talking about his progress and called the last four years a process. "You know, it was I would say before maybe not the complete belief or knowledge of knowing what to do and how to win to get the job done, but now it's fun to go out there and go take care of business."
He'll have to beat Castro (71) -8, who is looking for his 1st win, along with Justin Rose (69) -7 and James Hahn (68) who are T3.
Rory has looked a little Rusty so far and seems out of it after (73) has him 8 shots back at -1 as is Phil Mickelson who wrapped up his 76 with a snowman (8) on the 18th.
According to the stats gurus, since the tournament began in 2003, the first 15 holes have played to a total of 1,372 under par while the final three, two tough par 4's and the water surrounded par 3 17th, together called the Green Mile have been played in 5,557 over.
Canadian scores: Adam Hadwin 71 74 73 +2 T51 and Grahaem DeLaet 71 71 76 +2 T51.

McIlroy returns to play at Quail Hollow today

There are 5 Canadians teeing it up today at this Wells Fargo Championship at the popular Quail Hollow GC, which incidentally is about to undergo a serious re-vamping to upgrade the facilities and course to help secure major championships and the Ryder Cup in years to come.
This week MacKenzie Hughes Monday qualified to join Nick Taylor, Adam Hadwin David Hearn and Graham DeLaet who are paired together off #10 at 2pm.
However the headline grabber is Rory McIlroy who won here in 2010 and has been missing in action for several weeks. He hasn't won yet this year.
Jordan Spieth gave a press conference on Tuesday and he is spending a couple of days at US Open site, Oakmont before both will compete at the Players next week.
Pgatour.com reports that Spieth did what most young guys with time to burn and money to spend did after Augusta: he went on a well-appointed Spring Break. Spieth joined Rickie Fowler, Smylie Kaufman and Justin Thomas for a getaway at a tropical resort, a vacation that included a little golf and a lot of unwinding.

A truly international field has arrived in the grounds of his Royal Highness Moulay Rachid for the seventh annual Trophee Hassan II but this year there is a new twist.
The European and Ladies European Tours came together with a mixed exhibition match on the eve of the Trophée Hassan II and the Lalla Meryem Cup at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, in Rabat.
With the two tournaments running concurrently for the first time this week, the exhibition match provided the perfect platform for the two Tours to showcase the groundbreaking initiative.

The men will be teeing it up on the Red Course in the Trophée Hassan II while over on the Blue Course the women will be competing in the Lalla Meryem Cup as the two Tours come together at one venue for the first time.
This will not be the last time that the men and the women share the same venue this season, as they will all be brought together in Rio de Janeiro in August when golf returns to the Olympic Games for the first time in 112 years.

Brooke Henderson's run of 8 straight top 10 finishes is over as she finished play at this Texas Shootout with a 71 T19 at -3.
The winner is yet another South Korean girl who grew up in Torrance, California, and won the 2006 U.S. Girls’ Junior. Jenny Shin won her first LPGA event in 133 starts with a -4 67 -14 total.
She was 2 shots ahead of local favourite Gerina Piller, who birdied the final hole for a 73 to T2 -12, with more South Koreans, Amy Yang and Mi Jung Hur who both shot 71.
The win was worth $195,000.

They are tip toeing over the soggy, waterlogged fairways this morning after more torrential rains once again wreaked havoc at TPC Louisiana, causing PGA TOUR officials to suspend third-round play Sunday and shorten the Zurich Classic to 54 holes.
Play resumed at 7 a.m. local time, however the National Weather Service calls for a 60 percent chance of rain beginning at 11 a.m with a 10 to 35 percent chance between now and 10 a.m.
Co-leaders Brian Stuard and Jhonattan Vegas share the lead at -13 after managing to play five holes before play was suspended at 10:00 a.m Sunday. They have been joined by Bobby Wyatt, who's playing on a sponsor's exemption this week

Round 3 suspended at Zurich Classic, tournament may be cancelled..

Third-round play was suspended at 10:08 a.m. CT this morning (1108 est) at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana because of impending inclement weather.
Third round play was suspended Saturday and resumed Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. CT. With the 3-day forecast calling for more rain in southeast Louisiana, the chances of the tournament being shortened from 72 holes appear to go up every hour. As of now, tournament officials are hopeful of resuming play later today and completing 72 holes Monday, weather permitting.
Brian Stuard and Jhonattan Vegas share the partial third-round lead at 13-under par over the squishy par 72, 7,412-yard Pete Dye layout.
Scott Stallings, Bobby Wyatt and last week's winner at the Valero Texas Open, Charley Hoffman were all -6 on their respective rounds before play was halted. Wyatt sits just one shot back, while Hoffman and Stallings went into the clubhouse for the delay three shots behind the co-leaders.

With the 3-day forecast calling for more rain in southeast Louisiana, the chances of the tournament being shortened from 72 holes appear to go up every hour. As of now, tournament officials are hopeful of resuming play later today and completing 72 holes Monday, weather permitting.
Brian Stuard and Jhonattan Vegas share the partial third-round lead at 13-under par over the squishy par 72, 7,412-yard Pete Dye layout.
Scott Stallings, Bobby Wyatt and last week's winner at the Valero Texas Open, Charley Hoffman were all -6 on their respective rounds before play was halted. Wyatt sits just one shot back, while Hoffman and Stallings went into the clubhouse for the delay three shots behind the co-leaders.

Li Haotong delighted the home fans at Topwin Golf and Country Club as he fired a closing bogey-free 64 to become the second consecutive Chinese winner of the Volvo China Open.
The 20 year old began the day two shots behind Felipe Aguilar and Lucas Bjerregaard but with a large home gallery cheering on his every shot, he reeled in the Chilean and held a share of the lead as he stood on the 17th tee.
Li birdied the penultimate hole to get -22 and when Aguilar put his tee-shot on the 16th into the water, a par up the last was enough to give Li a three-shot victory and a first European Tour title.
The win makes China the first country to have players win the event in successive years after Wu Ashun's triumph last campaign and also gives the world's most populous nation a record fourth victory, one more than Australia and England.

The leader is long hitting Gerina Piller who shot -4 67 to reach -14 for a 2 shot lead, and her story is the headliner here at Las Colinas Country Club in Texas.
She hasn't won in 123 career starts, lives in Plano, about 20 miles from Las Colinas and grew up in Roswell, New Mexico, and played at the University Texas-El Paso with our Canadian golf pro Rick Todd.
She is married to PGA Tour player Martin Piller who incidently missed the cut in the Zurich Classic.
South Korean players Amy Yang (65) and Mi Jung Hur (66) are T2 -12 and Jenny Shin (65) and Sei Young Kim (68) are -10. Hur as I mentioned on Friday lives in the area in the town of McKinney.

The best laid plans of mice and men are being put to the test on this Easter Sunday for all our Greek friends in the Toronto area as rain has moved in after a spectacular sunny spring day on Saturday.
The same can be said down in Louisiana, where the Zurich Classic and all it's players, fans and officials are facing more rain delays that have interrupted two out of three days of the tournament so far. The forecast for today is sadly more of the same.
The leader is Brian Stuard, who managed to play just six holes on Saturday, completing his second round with a -4 68 to reach -12. Jamie Landmark and Jhonattan Vegas are currently T2 and they haven't played since Friday. He is 33 and is looking for his first win.
Jason Day is -7 through 2 rounds.
David Hearn is at -5 under through four holes in his third round. Adam Hadwin is currently -4 through 2 holes of his 3rd round. Nick Taylor at -2 has yet to start his. Mike Weir has missed the cut.
Rain is forecast for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
"Our hopes are that during the rain periods we won't have lightning and we'll be able to play golf,'' PGA TOUR rules official Steve Carman said Saturday. "Depending on how it goes, we could keep them in the same groups and play the fourth round. I told the players that if we have any stoppage they need to make plans to play here Monday, provided we can play here Monday. I feel confident that we'll be here Monday"
